I'd like to make a suggestion?
Use Levels to adjust the black of the bird and cat to make them blend better with the image, also use a soft paint brush on low opacity to add some shadows under the girl/chaise/cat, this will make the image have more depth and look more realistic

Thanks for the suggestions. I'm assuming you use PhotoShop because I'm not familiar with your terms. I use Paint Shop Pro. So I don't know what you mean by "levels", or "soft" paint brush. I did add shadows, but maybe not enough.
