What The Group Accepts For Its Galleries

GROUP NEWS
(I don't know why this journal won't stick. Once it was even at my own art account! I hope it sticks now, and I'm sorry that you're behind one day to start)

First A Message From The Founder To Our New Members:

Hello, y'all! I'm so very happy that you're reading the journal with the information for our current challenge. Since all of you newbie members are on auto-acceptance, I'm seeing too many new members treating us as a place to dump their deviations.  And I talking about some really bad deviations or images that are not really photomanipulations. We are not that kind of group. If you haven't read our rules and group policies, read them here: manipulatethis.deviantart.com/…

Are you confused? Do you want to be sure of how to approach the theme? You can post at the bottom of this journal and one of us will be happy to answer.

Bullet; Green Next I want to mention a journal article written by our own CV for photomanipulation, Aeirmid, on how to get great art . If you haven't read, <a wytiwyg="1" href="aeirmid.deviantart.com/journal…> The WOW Effect: What Makes Great! Great" you simply must go over there and do just that!  Do it right now! That journal is  filled with the very things I've tried to have you understand for years now. And I'll probably bring them up at one time or another because there's too newbies joining us every week. As a result, they will never learner. Pure and simple.

I would like to see more newbies stop wasting time in the small end of the swimming pool. Why not make this the challenge you're going to stop and take the time to challenge yourself. Okay? Remember, you're judged with the same entries in your level,  not in combination with the entire group.

So let's all give this challenge a try! All levels are welcome!
<With The Challenges, Learn, and Have Some Fun. Love Every  Good Deviation That You've Accomplished, But Still Listen To What We Have To Share!!

CURRENT CHALLENGE

Our new challenge is called "Dad And Me"
and it features the stock from  MissnDtown, IthiliamStock, o0oTamaraStocko0o, :devkristinkk. Their stock featured two animals stock, one stock with two children, and a man with a baby.

Bullet; Green You're going to create a "scene" with those model stock, so be sure you have a proper environment for them.  Note: a "scene" is not the same as a "design".

Bullet; Green If you don't know the difference between a "scene" and a "design", read this walk through explanation:
manipulatethis.deviantart.com/…

And this one will also be helpful like:
manipulatethis.deviantart.com/…

Challenge Objective:
Your objective is to create a "Daddy And Me" theme entry that features one of the 4 model stock. The model stock is the most important part of the deviation so they should be forward and big, not small and back into the scene.

:bulletblack: A simple figure in a huge background is not always a good composition, but including other people, an  animal or insects always help.

( And I am aware of the Father's left arm, but I forgot to upload the new version and I'm very tired. Maybe tomorrow. )

Challenge Expectations:

Bullet; Black The Challenge begins today,  and will end Sunday, July 6th. Please keep a close eye on the Countdown Clock on the group's  Home page  for the time in your area.

Bullet; Black Please be sure to use at least  stocks from any stock account that you prefer. . Remember, to use "textures and brushes", but they do not count towards your  4 or more stock count.

Bullet; Black You must create your own background! No exceptions! If you use a pre-made background, you must list the stock that the stock provider used to create the background. If the stock came somewhere, like HermitCrabStock, where they do their own cut outs, then you may use them with only a link to the art account.

Bullet; Black  For a review or a lesson on how to create the illusion of Space and Depth in your photomanipulations, see the walk through HERE: (this link will take you away from dA to a web page)
www.grsites.com/tutorials/text…

:bulletblack Also review this walk-through: thefantasim.deviantart.com/jou…

AND HERE:
manipulatethis.deviantart.com/…

FYI:When you mix renders with photos, you're actually creating a mixed media digital image. We only do mixed media when I say it's okay, but this is not one of those times! So watch your stock carefully.

Bullet; Black As always:, no painting over stock, no monochromatic (using the same color in a variety of tones) color scheme; and, especially for this challenge, do not do any spectacular light show that will take over your image. Meaning, you want the viewer to notice everything about your photomanipulation. Not just the bright lights.

Bullet; Black Remember to refrain from using elements that are not part of the group's policies. I'm sorry, since members think the information gets too "wordy", you'll have to find out on your own by linking to the group policies.

REQUIRED STOCK

You can choose one of the stock below for your entry. Make sure that you place the stock of your choice in an odd or surreal background.

Hello Daddy by MissnDtown
Father and Daughters by IthiliamStock     Beach 5 by o0oTamaraStocko0o

Last Points:

Bullet; Black Don't Forget About Lighting! Some of the stock has natural light while others have indoor light. It's very important that the light that hits your model also comes from the same direction on everything else in the scene.

Bullet; Black Where there is light, the opposite side will have shadow.

Bullet; Black You can create two entries. </b></b>

LET'S GET STARTED!

Have questions? Ask before you get too far into creating your entry!! Also, I'll be happy to look at you deviation before you submit if you would like some private advice.

WHAT TO DO WHEN YOUR ENTRY IS READY: Competitive Category

Bullet; Green In side of your artist comments box,  please include the statement: An entry into the "Dad And Me " challenge at ManipulateThis.

Also include our avatar so that visitors will link back to group.

Bullet; Green Include the level you're participating under. I don't want  to assign one for you,  but if you go lower then you should, I will move you up. If you're higher than you should be when you compare your deviations with others, then you should drop down a level.

If you're really unsure or confused, send a note to the group and I will help you decide.

No Changing Levels From One Challenge To Another! No Having One Entry In One Level, And One In A Different Level For The Same Challenge!

Bullet; Green Please give your entry a unique name, not simply the name of the challenge. Your art is unique, and so should be your title.

Bullet; Green Submit your entry from it's original art page by using the "Add To A Group" link. Submit into the FEATURED folder.

Bullet; Green Your entry will receive comments from the ManipulateThis staff.   Please, no arguing or acting childish. We're only trying to help you with your deviation. You can accept what we say, or leave it, but unruly behavior can result banning you from the group.

If your deviation is declined because you did not follow the Objects or the Expectations, and if there is time, you're allowed to edit your deviation or start again. An edited deviation will change the original if you use the "Edit" link on the page of the deviation.

Bullet; RedIMPORTANT! If the above happens and you do not delete the original deviation from your gallery, please send a group note so that I know to remove the original entry.

Non-Competitive Category

Rules are same as above. We need to clearly see the words "Non-Competitive" as level in the artist comments.

Send Questions to me if you have any. Now go have some fun!
