Hi everyone!

Well, there was something that I wanted to tell you all, but now I've forgotten. I hate when that happens. It can be very frustrating.

Oh, wait. I remember now. It's about searching and choosing stock for your deviations.

Did you know, at the beginning of a search subject group (like death, station wagon, draperies, and such) you're going to get the most popular stock at the beginning of the stock pages.

For example, this stock was posted in June, 2013, yet it's on the first page of stock images.

It's a great pre-made, isn't it, but I wouldn't use it. Why? Because it's a very popular stock pre-made already.

So do you know what I do? I go to the bottom of the first page, look at the left hand side to find the page selector. It says "Deviations
1-24. I click that, and it allows me to put a page in. I usually pull a number out of my, like 2500, and look at the stocks that I get. Because people, there are some real gyms in the Resources and Stock collection. We just miss them because we don't try to find them. Like this one from AdorkaStock found on the 2500 page:

Okay, I feel better now that I remembered what I wanted to share with you.

Oh, if you missed the last journal, we've gone to having challenge based on a color. In other words, I give you a color (sometime a pair), and you do any photomanipulation you want that emphasize that color. If you need to preview that, you can find it under Please Read The Changes In Group Challenges.

So Let's Get Started On Our First Color Of The Month!

CURRENT CHALLENGE

Our new challenge is called Red Hot Summer and it features the "color red". You must be careful that you are using true red, not red-orange or red-violet.

Look for "different, rarely used" stock as I described above, not the same old same old stock model whose face we're all familiar with..

Remember your theme and style is completely up to you.

Challenge Expectations:

The Challenge begins today, and will end Sunday, July 2oth. Please keep a close eye on the Countdown Clock on the group's Home page for the time in your area.

Please be sure to use at least 4 related stocks from any stock account at deviationArt. Remember, a background isn't considered as one of your minimum stock because you must have a background; and, textures and brushes don't qualify because they are not stock.

You must create your own background! No exceptions! If you use a pre-made background, you must list the stock that the stock provider used to create the background. If the stock came somewhere, like :devhermitheadstock:, where they do their own cut outs, then you may use them with only a link to the art account.

Last Points:
Don't Forget About Lighting! Some of the stock has natural light while others have indoor light. It's very important that the light that hits your model also comes from the same direction on everything else in the scene.

Where there is light, the opposite side will have shadow.

You can create two entries.

Are you ready? Okay, get those thinking caps on, think of your concept for the image you want to create look your stock, and LET'S GET CREATING!

WHAT TO DO WHEN YOUR ENTRY IS READY: Competitive Category

In side of your artist comments box, please include the statement: An entry into the " " challenge at ManipulateThis.

Also include our avatar so that visitors will link back to group.

Include the level you're participating under.
If you've joined the group after July 7, I will view your gallery and assign you a level that I think would match up with your skills. As you continue to participate, follow through with our suggestions, when I see your entries improve, you will be moved up to the next level.

No Changing Levels From One Challenge To Another! No Having One Entry In One Level, And One In A Different Level For The Same Challenge!

Please give your entry a unique name, not simply the name of the challenge. Your art is unique, and so should be your title.

Submit your entry from it's original art page by using the "Add To A Group" link. Submit into the FEATURED folder.

Your entry will receive comments from the ManipulateThis staff. Please, no arguing or acting childish We're only trying to help you with your deviation. If you don't like a suggestion, or don't care that your deviation is not what the challenge is about, please just go away quietly. Unruly behavior will only have you banned from the group.

If your deviation is declined because you did not follow the Objects or the Expectations, and if there is time, you're allowed to edit your deviation or start again. An edited deviation will change the original if you use the "Edit" link on the page of the deviation.

IMPORTANT!If the above happens and you do not delete the original deviation from your gallery, please send a group note so that I know to remove the original entry.

Non-Competitive Category

Rules are same as above. We need to clearly see the words "Non-Competitive" as level in the artist comments.

Hello - I made this with your challenge in mind. But wasn't entirely sure of what some of the criteria actually meant. So if It doesn't meet them, then no worries. Thanks for taking a look.
